Safety Patrol Trophy
I received this trophy for being a safety patrol. I didn't make the first cut of safety patrols, but got admitted as an alternate. We had all sorts of responsibilities; like raising and lowering the flag, helping people cross the street, and wearing orange belts.
We also took a trip to Washington, DC at the end of the year where we saw the Awakening (that statue that looks like it is a man stuck in the ground), the Treasury (where we used real money to buy shredded money), and Luray Caverns in Virginia (where I was able to identify stalagtites and stalagmites because T-Bot explained the difference in a M.A.S.K. episode). I had a few friends, and 3 of us hung out together for most of the trip. One friend had hit puberty a bit ahead of schedule, and since he was taller and hairier than us, a small group of nerds (I mean, were were ALL safety-patrols!) who thought they were too cool for our group of three started calling us babies and the hairy-guy was our baby-sitter. One of the girls even signed my patrol-group-photo saying something derogatory about me wearing diapers or something like that. She was fat. I don't mind saying it, because she was mean to me.
